Climate-related disasters, humanitarian emergencies, violent conflicts and economic turbulence continue to take their toll on children, especially the poorest. UNICEF believes that priority should be given to the rights of those children who are the most marginalized and most in need of assistance – not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because it is the most practical and cost-effective in order to achieve greater results for children.

For more information on UNICEF’s equity-based approach, read Progress for Children: Achieving the MDGs with Equity (No. 9).

Thanks to the generous support and commitment of donors and partners, UNICEF works relentlessly to reach millions of children in the most remote communities with life-saving interventions and supplies.
