Nutrition Officer, Islamabad

Mandate of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to enable them to reach their full potential. 

Position:
UNICEF Pakistan requires the services of  Nutrition Officer, for its office in Islamabad.
 
Major duties and responsibilities:
• Develop implementation plan of the VAD, USI/IDD and IYCF programmes/projects in consultation with implementing partners, and negotiate with the relevant stakeholders and partners at the Federal level. 
• Provide support to provincial health and nutrition officer in planning and implementation of nutrition interventions (vitamin A supplementation and other micro-nutrient deficiency related activities, IYCF, management of acute malnutrition during emergency).
• Undertake filed visits to UNICEF projects sites, assess local conditions and resources, and monitor UNICEF inputs.  Provide technical support and guidance to implementing partners, government/NGOs for the effective and efficient implementation of nutrition interventions.
• Develop Training plan and materials for training related to IYCF, vitamin A supplementation, salt iodization and other MND related events as and when required for smooth and effective project implementation.
• Evaluate and analyze financial and supply reports to ensure appropriateness of documentation e.g. expenditures are within allotments, data is consistent with PIDB. Report to the supervisor and/or Head of Office the outcome of reviews.
• Coordinate with MI and WFP and Programme Communication Section   (UNICEF) for the implementation of IDD/USI communication strategy and plan. Coordinate with NGO network and Programme Communication Officer (UNICEF) for the implementation of IYCF communication plan.
• Draft relevant sections of reports (required for donors, management, annual reports, etc.)
• Any other assignment as assigned by supervisor.

Educational Qualification:
MBBS along with post-graduate degree or training in Public Health and/or Nutrition

Experience:
2-3 years progressively responsible experience in programme design, administration, monitoring and evaluation or related field.

Written and Spoken Language Skills:
Fluency in English required. Knowledge of the local working languages of the duty station is an asset.
