Prevention of Parent-to-Child Transmission of HIV: National Strategic Framework
Prevention of Parent-to-Child Transmission (PPTCT) Strategic Framework has been developed through a consultative process with input from stakeholders working in HIV, MCH, family planning and public health arenas and background in Pakistan.
Throughout the country specific framework development phase and when grappling with potential issues of implementation the continuous input and involvement of numerous HIV positive women and their partners has been enlisted. In particular their concerns have been incorporated and addressed in this policy document.
The target audience for the Strategic Framework comprises: AIDS programme managers, policy and decision makers, Ministry of Health and other critical line ministries/departments (population welfare, social development, education, labor & emigration, religious affairs etc), NGOs working in the field of HIV/MCH, donors, and national medical and training institutions. It is hoped that this document will be useful in guiding the national response to effectively maximize the impact on preventing HIV infection in women and children.
