Country Programme Counterparts
UNICEF greatly values its partnerships with the Government of Pakistan, other UN agencies, international and national NGOs working in the country. UNICEF's counterpart ministries in the Federal and Provincial Governments of Pakistan are the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Social Welfare and Special Education. There are however, a number of line departments in various ministries which are partners to UNICEF in planning and implementing its programmes and activities for example the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) under the Economic Affairs Division (EAD). The UNICEF's country office in Islamabad manages implementation and monitoring of its programme in Pakistan, providing vision, direction, coordination and technical support to provincial offices in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar and four field offices in the earthquake affected area. Coordinating with other UN agencies, bilateral donors, NGOs and Government ministries, the UNICEF country office takes a national perspective on advocacy, policy, planning and programming in the best interest of children in Pakistan.
