Celebrities/Regional Ambassador

UNICEF’s Ambassadors are chosen not only because of their name recognition but particularly because of the respect with which they are held and their appeal as genuine humanitarians. As a UNICEF Regional Ambassador they help us in our advocacy, fundraising and programme efforts and in communicating to a broad public, young people in particular, the vision and values that guide UNICEF’s work for children.

UNICEF’s Regional Ambassador for the Pacific Island Countries

Ms. Merewalesi Nailatikau was appointed UNICEF Pacific Regional Ambassador for the Pacific Island Countries in 2011. She was crowned Ms. South Pacific in 2009 and is passionate about the issues and challenges faced by young people, climate change and safe motherhood. Mere will soon graduate with a Master of Arts from the University of the South Pacific, in Development Studies and has worked mostly in communication and public relations for various organisations (Fiji TV, Communications Fiji Limited, UNICEF Pacific and Transparency International Fiji). She is currently a Communications Officer with the Pacific Leadership Programme, an initiative of Australian Aid.
