The progress of human development indicators has continued positively in the Sultanate, with increased government funding allocated to service delivery to the population, particularly its children.  Oman has been commended in many global reports on the progress it has achieved since the 1970s on basic human development indicators, including the survival and wellbeing of its children and women.

While Oman is likely to meet most Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) targets by 2015, the people of Oman have continued to benefit from their government’s commitment to ensuring that all Omanis have access to basic services, towards achieving the MDGs; and towards ensuring that children’s and women’s rights are protected, as per the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the optional protocols, and the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women.
