SPECIFICATIONS / TERMS OF REFERENCE / STATEMENT OF WORK

Introduction

UNICEF has been supporting PA initiatives to improve the existing water and sanitation situation. Such interventions include drilling wells in Gaza, rehabilitation of wells in West Bank, rehabilitation water and sewerage networks and sewage pumping stations. As part of provision of the safe water in Gaza, UNICEF is planning to implement Short Term Low Volume (STLV) Desalination Plant in Khan Younis to deliver safe water to the targeted population in Khan Younis and Rafah. The plant is sea water desalination and will be of 6,000 m3 per day capacity. The project is estimated to serve around 75,000 people in Rafah and Khan Younes.

The major components of the project include:

          o connection and evaluation of existing main carrier line, 
          o connections to existing distribution systems in Khan Younis and Rafah, 
          o upgrading of the existing networks, 
          o brine discharge to sea, leak detection and

The desalination project is expected to start early 2012 and the plant is expected to be in operation in 30 months’ time. UNICEF is process of prequalifying experienced consulting firms for the design and supervision of the key components mentioned above. The consulting firms will be working with UNICEF recruited international team leader as well as technical team from PWA and CMWU.

The proposed designs will include:

  1. Comprehensive lay out map in coordination with PWA and CMWU;
  2. Investigation of the existing water network systems, including leak detection and provide new designs;
  3. Architectural and structural designs for buildings, pumps houses, water reservoirs etc;
  4. Detailed drawings;
  5. Specifications;
  6. Bill of Quantities both priced and un-prices.

This EOI does not constitute a solicitation. We do not require bids or proposals at this stage; we merely seek your expression of interest in participating in the tender. A response to this Request for Expression of Interest does not automatically ensure that you will be selected to participate in the tender.
