Preventing disease and saving resources: the potential contribution of increasing breastfeedng rates in the UK. This report was commissioned by UNICEF United Kingdom. The findings show that for just five illnesses, moderate increases in breastfeeding rates would translate into cost savings for the National Health Service of 40 million pounds and tens of thousands of hospital visits and primary care consultations. October 2012
