UNICEF Web wins top rating

Magellan 4-Star Site

The UNICEF Web has won four stars - the highest rating - in the Magellan directory hosted by the McKinley Group, whose editorial team judged it to have "excelled in ...'depth of content,' 'ease of exploration' and 'net appeal'."

This is the third award the site has won. The Usenet newsgroup comp.infosystems.www.announce recently rated the UNICEF The Progress of Nations 1996 Web publication 'the Best of c.i.w.announce'. Point Web Reviews rated The Progress of Nations 1995 among the 'Top 5% of Websites' last year.

The Best of c.i.w.announce

The Magellan indexes nearly two million sites and has reviewed 40,000 of them. According to an email message from the McKinley Group, the directory is popular among Internet users as a guide "to the best resources within a particular field of interest."

The comp.infosystems.www.announce newsgroup, to which new Webs are submitted for announcement to the Internet community, reviews 30 to 40 sites every day and picks two or three 'interesting' ones for linking.

Top 5% of Web Sites

Point Web Reviews, based in New York City and now owned by Lycos, Inc. of Marlborough, Massachusetts, judges a site by its 'content,' 'presentation' and 'experience.'
