23 April 2003 - United Nations international staff have re-entered Iraq for the first time since the outbreak of the conflict. According to a UNICEF report, a five car UNICEF convoy with UNICEF and WFP international staff members crossed the border from Turkey into northern Iraq at 15.45, (13.45 GMT) Wednesday, 23 April. This is the first time that UN international staff members have entered Iraq permanently since their evacuation on 19 March, 2003 prior to the outbreak of fighting.
