> Education in Emergencies
The Emergency Education Cluster was strengthened through an MOU between the Department of Education, UNICEF and Save the Children, and contingency plans were updated. Learning was restored for 27,000 children displaced by flooding in 2008. Infrastructure repairs ensured resumed learning for 9,000 children in Udayapur District, and 6,539 children in schools and 488 children in ECD classes in the Far Western Development Region. A monitoring mechanism was established to track the impact of the 3F crisis on education. As a result of advocacy measures, major political parties signed commitments on the implementation of SZOP. Pre-positioning of education emergency supplies was established in four locations.
