UNICEF South Asia Regional Director, Ms Karin Hulshof, visits Nepal country office

26 Sepember 2012, The Regional Director of UNICEF South Asia, Ms. Karin Hulshof, received a warm Nepali welcome from the country office staff today. The staff put on their regional ethnic costumes for the occasion signifying Nepalese diversity.
A short documentary film gave Ms. Hulshof an insight into the Nepali way of life, its diversity and geography. It helped the Regional Director understand why Nepal is as challenging as it is beautiful.
Through various visual panels and presentations from the programmes team, Ms Hulshof had a good glimpse into the country office work. This helped her understand the current situation of children, adolescents and women in Nepal and how UNICEF is responding to the issues. The Nepal Country Representative, Ms Hanaa Singer lead Ms Hulshof down memory lane where one of the oldest staff members, Mr Rajendra Shakya, the Emergency Specialist, recounted his 3 decades of working for UNICEF.
The event also honoured the UNICEF retirees and the programme came to end after Mr Rajendra Shakya handed a four decade memorabilia book to Ms Hulshof.
