Lions Club celebrates the upcoming Measles Rubella campaign in Nepal
6 February 2011, Kathmandu- Lions Club International organized a banquet in Kathmandu this week to celebrate their involvement in the upcoming Measles Rubella campaign in Nepal. The guests included the Lions Club International Foundation Chairperson Mr. Sid Scruggs and Madame Judy Scruggs, representatives from the Ministry of Health and Population, WHO, USAID and the UNICEF Nepal Representative, Ms. Hanaa Singer. Ms. Singer in her remarks welcomed the Lions as they undertake the measles initiative. She particularly emphasized the importance of organisations such as the Lions support initiatives to ensure healthy lives of Nepali Children through immunization. Lions Club International has committed to provide USD 2.4 million for the Measles Rubella campaign in Nepal. Nepal is the only country in Asia and only the third in the world where Lions Club International is supporting this great initiative.
