Yangon Division extends AI prevention campaign to all 45 townships
Each township to receive 100 sets of material YANGON, 22 February, 2007 – The start of a major distribution of avian influenza material in all 45 townships in Yangon Division was launched today by the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries and UNICEF. The launch was at the Office of the Director General, at the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department (LBVD) in Insein. Each township will receive 100 sets of avian influenza materials. The materials, developed with the support of the Government of Japan, aim to increase public awareness and promote practices to help prevent avian influenza. They have been produced jointly by LBVD, the Ministry of Health and UNICEF. They comprise 11 posters and two pamphlets on four key AI messages – report sick poultry, separate poultry, cook food well and wash hands properly.
