President Guebuza opens the 47th FACIM, tours exhibits
MAPUTO, Mozambique, 29 August 2011 - In a closed session at FACIM this morning, President Armando Guebuza opened the 47th Maputo international trade fair in Marracuene, on the northern outskirts of Maputo city.
In the presence of several dignitaries and exhibitors, the President officially inaugurated the new exhibition facilities, which were moved from a downtown location to a new permanent location this year.
UNICEF Representative Jesper Morch and other staff members attended the opening session and welcomed several distinguished visitors to the UNICEF stand.
UNICEF's presence at FACIM is part of the organization's corporate social responsibility / corporate social investment outreach and private sector partnership efforts, which are based on the premise that businesses represent a positive force in society and can make a real difference in children's lives and in ensuring sustainable development.
Above all, businesses must respect children's rights in the work place and in the value chain; make sure their products and services are safe and environmentally friendly; and support and reinforce ongoing Government and community efforts to protect children's rights.
