New child rights website launched in Mozambique

Maputo 14 April 2010 – A new website on child rights was launched today in Maputo during the official ceremony marking the re-opening of the National Library of Mozambique.

The child rights web site is an initiative of the Civil Society Network for Child Rights, which brings together 30 civil society organisations working for the realisation of child rights in Mozambique. The website offers a range of information on child rights and development issues, such as publications, legislation, news and upcoming events for practitioners and the public at large.

“It’s much more than a repository of information,” says UNICEF Representative Leila Pakkala. “We hope that the website will become an interactive online space for knowledge sharing in the country – a point of reference on child rights in Mozambique.”

The website is maintained by the national organisation Rede da Crianca, with support from the Fundacao para o Desenvolvimento da Comunidade (FDC), Save the Children Alliance and UNICEF.

The child rights website is accessible at www.redicem.org.mz.
