MAPUTO, 17 October 2012 – The Civil Society Forum for Child Rights, ROSC, and The Religious Council of Mozambique, COREM, signed a Memorandum of Understanding defining their collaboration in the area of promotion and protection of the rights of the child in Mozambique.

The objective of the collaboration between ROSC and COREM is to work together in the area of advocacy and monitoring the rights of the child as well as involving the religious groups in the sensitization of its members in order to protect the children against all forms of abuse, including early child marriage.

Other areas that are of interest to both groups are HIV and AIDS, birth registration, nutrition and alternative care.

It was also agreed that ROSC, with support from UNICEF, will be responsible for providing technical support to COREM, and that COREM will mobilize its members to include messages addressing the above mentioned five focus areas in their work.
