UNICEF and ACIS promote corporate social responsibility at Business Link 2012
Maputo, 9 October 2012 – The United Nations Children’s Fund for (UNICEF) joins the Business Link 2012 trade fair this year. The fair is taking place on 11th of October 2012, from 9:00 to 18:30 at the Indy Village in Maputo. The fair aims to promote business exchange, and UNICEF is participating in the event as part of a collaboration and commitment of the Association of Commerce and Industry (ACIS) - the organizer of the fair - to raise awareness and advocate for Child-Focused Corporate Social Responsibility policies. A set of ten key recommendations for companies have been summarized in the publication Child Rights and Business Principles, launched globally by UNICEF, Save the Children and UN Global Compact. The UNICEF stand at Business Link 2012 will provide information and advice about the importance and benefits of implementing these principles, about the areas where the intervention of the private sector may have a more positive impact on children in Mozambique, and how companies can best contribute to the protection of human rights of children in their policies, operations, products, services, initiatives and activities. Over 200 leading companies are expected to participate in the fair as exhibitors, in addition to thousands of visitors.
