Swedish National Committee broadcasts two films made with UNICEF Mozambique
MAPUTO, Mozambique, 8 May 2012 - On May 1, the Swedish National Committee for UNICEF held its annual fundraising gala on national television in Sweden, featuring several short films from around the world, including two films made in Mozambique earlier this year (see links below).
During the fundraising gala, which lasted for a full day, more than 30,000 new UNICEF pledge donors were signed up as a result of the films and other related activities. Each pledge donor signs up for a monthly contribution of approximately USD 15, so this number of new or additional pledge donors represents an extra USD 5.4 million in income for the Nat Com per year.
The first film from Mozambique was about a Swedish pledge donor called Anna Lyden, who visited child headed and elderly headed households in Manica in February, and her touching meeting with Grandmother Luisa and the nine grandchildren she was caring for.
The second film was a comic relief contribution with a famous Swedish actor playing the Swedish king on a visit to a Mozambican school. The production of both films were supported by the CAPP section and other sections.
