The UNICEF Mozambique country office is seeking for highly motivated and qualified Mozambican Nationals to contribute to the promotion of children's rights in Mozambique. We are seeking candidates who are highly proficient in their technical area, and willing to contribute to the development of your country in a team coming from different horizons and cultures. If you are competent in working in a team, gender and culture sensitive, dedicated and persuasive, and able to show leadership and commitment for children's rights, then apply for any of the following positions:

  • EMERGENCY SPECIALIST (FIELD COORDINATION), National Officer level 3, based in MAPUTO, ref. MOZ14003
    The successful candidate would manage and coordinate the UNICEF Country Office preparedness and response, to ensure the survival and well-being of children and mothers affected by large scale emergencies. The staff will also be responsible for supporting field coordination of UNICEF programme in Tete and Zambezia.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: At least a Master degree in social sciences, public administration, international law, public health, nutrition, international relations, business administration or other related disciplines.
    Work Experience: Five years of progressively responsible professional experience at the national level in social services programme management and administration of emergencies. Specialized training and experience in emergency response management and international experience is desirable.

  • PROCUREMENT OFFICER, National Officer level 2, MAPUTO, ref. MOZ20140801
    The successful candidate will provide technical support to the One UN Procurement and Administrative Initiative in order to manage and maintain an effective system of consolidated procurement through existing or new long term arrangements and contracts, and streamline the procurement process. The staff will lead the One UN Procurement and Administrative Group.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: University degree in Business Administration, Procurement and Supply Management with specialization in project management or contract law, or any other relevant field.
    Work Experience: Two years of relevant professional experience in the procurement of services, negotiation and administration of contracts, or any other relevant field. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of public procurement required. Background in Emergency an asset.

  • WASH SPECIALIST, National Officer level 3, based in TETE, ref. MOZ14015
    The successful candidate would support the management and assessment of UNICEF supported WASH programme in the Tete province. The staff member would provide technical support to Government partners for implementation of the multisectoral WASH plan for 50% of his/her time. Additionally, the staff member would act as the team leader for coordinating UNICEF integrated programming and operations in the Tete Province for the remainder of his/her time.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: Master degree in Public Health, Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, or any other field relevant to international development assistance in WASH. Additional training in Health Education or Communication for Development an asset.
    Work Experience: Five years of progressively responsible professional experience at the national level and in the field, in management of or technical support to WASH programmes. Background in Emergency an asset.

  • HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER, National Officer level 2, MAPUTO, ref. MOZ14013
    The successful candidate will support the management of all human resource activities, including recruitment, administration of personnel, and staff development, for the various categories of staff and consultants, in the UNICEF Mozambique Country Office, for a total of approximately 120 staff and a pool of consultants.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: University degree in social sciences, human resources, business administration, international relations, psychology, or any other relevant field.
    Work Experience: Two years of relevant professional experience at the national level and in the field, in the management and support of human resources. Background in Emergency an asset.

  • INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (T4D), National Officer level 2, based in MAPUTO, ref. MOZ14011
    The successful candidate will support the identification of emerging technologies that contribute to improve programme monitoring and management in areas of health, education, protection, communication and WASH activities supported by UNICEF. S/he will support the design, testing, and capacity-building of end users of such systems.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: University degree or equivalent background in Computer Science, Information Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or related area.
    Work Experience: Two years of relevant professional work experience at the national level and in the field in the use of technology for development and mobile communication. Background in Emergency an asset.

  • CHILD PROTECTION SPECIALIST, National Officer level 3, based in MAPUTO, ref. MOZ14010
    The successful candidate would be responsible for management, advocacy and technical support for the development and scale up of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics system in Mozambique, in close collaboration with the Ministries of Justice, Interior, Science and Technology and Local Government and relevant partners.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: At least a Master degree, preferably in the area of social sciences, law or any other field relevant to international development assistance in Child Protection. Experience in birth registration an asset.
    Work Experience: Five years of professional work experience at national level and in the field, in management of or technical support to child protection programmes. Background/familiarity with Emergency.

  • EDUCATION OFFICER, National Officer level 2, based in MAPUTO, ref. MOZ14008
    The successful candidate would be responsible for the management, advocacy and technical support for promoting Quality Education, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education and partners, and in the context of UNICEF's Education program.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: University degree in Education, Economics, Social Sciences, or any other field relevant to international development assistance in Education.
    Work Experience: Two years of professional work experience at the national level and in the field, in management of or technical support to Education programmes. Background in Emergency an asset.

  • CHILD SURVIVAL AND DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST, National Officer level 3, based in MAPUTO, ref. MOZ14006
    The successful candidate would be responsible for the management, advocacy and technical support for promoting Neonatal and Child Survival, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and partners, and in the context of UNICEF's Health and Nutrition program.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: At least a Master degree in Public Health, Medicine, Nursing or any other field relevant to international development assistance in Health.
    Work Experience: Five years of professional experience at the national level and in the field, in management of or technical support to health programmes. Background in Emergency an asset.

  • NUTRITION SPECIALIST, National Officer level 3, based in QUELIMANE, ZAMBEZIA, ref. MOZ14005
    The successful candidate would support the management and assessment of UNICEF supported Nutrition programme in the Zambezia province. The staff member would provide technical support to Government partners for the implementation of the multisectoral provincial plan against chronic under nutrition for 50% of his/her time. Additionally, the staff member would act as the team leader for coordinating UNICEF integrated programming and operations in the Zambezia Province for the remainder of his/her time.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: at least Master degree in Public Health & Nutrition, Epidemiology, Health Promotion, Nutrition sciences or other relevant discipline(s).
    Work Experience: Five years of relevant professional experience, including as a team leader and programme manager in the field of public nutrition. Field work experience and background with Emergency an asset.

  • MONITORING & EVALUATION SPECIALIST, National Office level 3, based in MAPUTO, ref. MOZ140042
    The successful candidate would contribute to the production and dissemination of information on the situation of children's and women's rights, and the monitoring of the performance and impact of UNICEF-supported programmes. The staff member will also coordinate with other UN agencies monitoring and evaluation of joint programmes, and developing national capacities in data analysis and monitoring and evaluation.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: At least Master degree in social sciences, statistics, planning development, public health or other disciplines.
    Work Experience: Five years of relevant professional experience in programme management and monitoring and evaluation activities. Field work experience including at least one exposure to emergency programming.

  • DRIVERS, General Service level 2, based in MAPUTO, TETE or ZAMBEZIA, ref. MOZ20140802
    The successful candidate will be responsible for driving UNICEF vehicles to transport staff and official visitors, as well as collection of official documents/goods and performing minor vehicle repairs.

    Qualifications and Competencies
    Education: Primary education, driver's license, knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Skills in minor vehicle repairs.
    Work Experience: Two year's work experience as a driver; safe driving record.
    Language Proficiency: Fluency in Portuguese. Knowledge of English. Good knowledge of local languages.

Process of Application

All candidates, except drivers, are required to be Fluent in English and Portuguese. Your work will be gratified through competitive salaries and benefits, in line with UN salary scale and based on your experience. If selected you will be offered a two year contract, renewable on the basis of performance and fund availability.
