CRC turns 18In occasion of the 18th birthday of UN CRC, UNICEF together with the Parliament and Save the Children UK organized an exhibition of children's drawngs entitled "My Montenegro" in the hall of the Parliament. The involvement of children and young people is only likely to be meaningful to them if they can see that their views have been taken into account and have made a difference. "One of the most important provisions of the Convention is that children have the right to express their opinions on matters which affect their lives. When children are asked about what matters to them they will often surprise us with the sophistication of their thinking or the ideas that they have. We shouldn't be surprised, though. We should listen, respond and act together. The involvement of children and young people is only likely to be meaningful to them if they can see that their views have been taken into account and have made a difference.", said Noala Skinner, UNICEF Representative, at the opening of the exhibition of children's drawngs in the Parliament. Through drawings children sent a message to the representatives of the people of Montenegro on their needs, rights, opinions and hopes. The winning artists received recognition for their work and their drawings are included in the calendar for 2008.
