My Montenegro Calendar 2008
UNICEF, together with the Ministry of Educaton, announced a drawing competition "My Montenegro" for children 6-14 years old on October 19, 2007 - Children's Day within the UN Week in Montenegro. UNICEF invited all children of elementary school age to express through art what matters to them in their lives. "I would like to invite you to take part in the drawing competition "My Montenegro". We want you to draw what matters to you about our lives - it can be your right to learn and be in school; to enjoy the beautiful landscapes, mountains, clean water and sea of your ecological state; to have fun and play with friends and family; to see a doctor when you don't feel well; to be safe from neglect, abuse, injustice and forced labour; to be able to freely express your views; to be treated equally no matter who you are or where you are from; to have your best interests taken into consideration at all times.", said Noala Skinner, UNICEF Representative at a press conference in a primary school in the capital while annuncing the beginning of the drawing competition. More than 1,500 rawings arrived to our addres from all over Montenegro. A panel of judges consisting of Ms. Ana Vukadinovic, Head of the Secretariat for European Integration, Mr. Marko Jokic, Deputy Minister for Education, Ms. Snezana Mijuskovic, Deputy Minister for Health, Labour and Social Welfare, Mr. Gordan Ivanovic, Country Representative of Save the Children UK and Ms. Noala Skinner, UNICEF Representative, chose 13 winning pictures. The winning drawings are included in UNICEF and Save the Children UK Calendar for 2008. 5,000 calendars were distributed widely to policy makers, donors, NGOs, social workers, doctors, teachers, parents and children themselves as a daily reminder of the needs, rights, opinions and hopes of children in Montenegro.
