Roundtable on the Draft Law on Social and Child ProtectionPODGORICA, Montenegro, 19 May 2011 – The first round table for development of the Law on Social and Child Protection, will be held on Friday, 20 May 2011, in the Green Saloon of the Hotel „Crna Gora“ in Podgorica, at 2:00 PM. The round table will be hosted by the Government of Montenegro - Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and UNICEF, with financial support from the European Union. Appointed representatives from the ministries, social welfare and child care institutions, municipalities, civil society and international organizations will attend the round table. The purpose of the first round table is to acquaint participants with the draft of the proposed structure of the Law on Social and Child Protection, and to present international standards in the area of child protection, as well as comparative experiences and financial aspects in development of the new Law. In addition to the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare Dr Suad Numanovic, Mr Nicola Bertolini, Head of Operations at the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, and a representative of UNICEF Montenegro will speak at the opening. Revision of the Law on Social and Child Protection is one of the main activities within the Project „The Social Welfare and Child Care System Reform – Enhancing the Social Inclusion“ implemented by the Government of Montenegro: the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare and the Ministry of Education with technical assistance of UNICEF, UNDP and with financial support from the European Union in the amount of 3 million Euro.
