UNICEF supports the Ministry of Education and Science of Montenegro and the local authorities in their capacity building to ensure that basic learning needs of all children are met and sustained. UNICEF Montenegro Child Protection Programme aims to build a protective environment for ALL children - from national legislation and policies to the local level. Children and young people are key to the present and future of the country and to the course of HIV/AIDS epidemic. Therefore, UNICEF works on prevention of the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people All the interventions of UNICEF Montenegro have contributed to an improved status of young children, and to a decreasing trend in child mortality. UNICEF is assisting adolescents to become active and responsible citizens by providing them with the necessary life-skills to cope with adult life and lead healthy life-styles.
