Maternal Health and Newborn Care project
The project aims at promoting the reduction of maternal mortality rate (MMR) nationally and in the western region where MMR is higher than national average. UNICEF’s contribution focuses on promoting access and utilization of Emergency Obstetric Care services; provide early Antenatal Care (ANC) services and correct iron deficiency anaemia among pregnant mothers. The project will also carry out capacity building of service providers on safe delivery practices and newborn care; and promote exclusive breastfeeding.
