Emergencies

One of UNICEF’s key priorities to ensure that children living in conflict situations or experiencing natural disasters enjoy the same rights as children everywhere else. And the Middle East and North Africa region has, unfortunately, no shortage of such crises.

Whether in protracted crises like the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Sudan and Yemen, or in current and more recent ones, like Libya and Syria, children are seldom spared the effects of violence, unrest and conflict.

UNICEF helps provide children affected by emergencies with psychosocial support, safe water and adequate sanitation, child-friendly spaces for education and recreation, and other basic health, nutrition and protection services needed in the wake of a disaster.
