Media Advisory: Count Every Child - A State Responsibility

A high-Level panel discussion will take place at UN Headquarters in New York on Wednesday, 7 November, on the importance of every child being registered at birth

Who: The panelists include:

• The Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations, Luis Alfonso de Alba,
• Deputy Permanent Representative of Turkey to the United Nations, Huseyin Muftuoglu
• Executive Director of UNICEF, Anthony Lake,
• UN High Commissioner for Refugees, António Guterres
• Country Director for Plan Kenya, Samuel Musyoki,

What:  
The panel will discuss the importance of making sure that every child is counted and counts through registration at birth. Some 50 million new-born children go unregistered every year despite registration being an essential human right.
