NEW YORK, 30 November 2009 - "It is with great sadness that UNICEF today confirms that our colleague, Teshome Mandefro Ergete, was the previously unidentified United Nations' victim of the savage attack on a UN guesthouse in Kabul on October 28.
“Mr. Ergete, an Ethiopian national, was an expert in drilling wells for fresh water. He had worked for UNICEF Afghanistan since September 2009.
“His remains have now been formally identified through genetic testing, and his family has been informed.
“UNICEF extends its deepest condolences to Teshome’s family and friends. He died in the service of humanity."
