We are encouraged by the renewal of existing G8 commitments to address infectious diseases, to strengthen health systems, and to improve maternal, newborn and child health and water and sanitation.
The Toyako Framework for Action on Global Health provides a valuable outline for follow up on these commitments.
This focus on health issues would not have been possible without the leadership of the Government of Japan and its decision to engage a broad array of stakeholders in the G8 process.
