UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Angélique Kidjo visits Benin, her home country

Kidjo will attend the launch of Benin’s 2007 girls’ education campaign with Government officials and other development partners. She will also visit schools and meet with women’s groups and child victims of trafficking.

Why:
As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Kidjo will help raise decisions makers’ awareness of children’s rights, especially the rights to education and protection. Her visit will send a strong message that girls need to go to school and finish primary education. It will also highlight the need to rehabilitate exploited and trafficked children.
