UNICEF Maldives presents its Country Programme for 2008-2010
17 October 2007 - UNICEF Maldives presented its proposed Country Programme for 2008-2010 to the Government of the Maldives today. The presentation was part of a consultative process that aims to ensure that UNICEF’s programmes are in line with the nation’s objectives in caring for its children in the coming years.
The Country Programme outlines key areas of intervention and proposes, to the UNICEF Executive Board, a total budget of US$ 5.2 million over three years to ensure the sustainability of major gains achieved in the areas of child survival and development, integrated child protection services and quality improvements in the primary and secondary education sectors. The programme also aims to address the particular protection needs of vulnerable women and girls in society and will maintain emergency preparedness preparation as an underlying theme of all support to the Government.
