First National AIDS ConferenceMalaysia’s first National AIDS Conference themed ‘Keep the Promise, Uniting in Action', is an opportunity for policy makers, clinicians, medical practitioners, academia, activists, youth and People Living with HIV and AIDS to come together to review and evaluate past initiatives and challenges for the purpose of better prevention, treatment, care and support programs in the future. Three key areas of HIV and AIDS in Malaysia will be explored: clinical/basic science, public health, and, community and social implication and response to the HIV/AIDS situation. The opportunity to re-examine collective and individual responses to HIV and AIDS will also ensure that future programming is both complementary to the 9th Malaysian Plan and in line with the National Strategic Plan on HIV/AIDS 2006 – 2010 and the broader commitments to the outcomes of the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS and the Millennium Development Goals. The First National AIDS Conference is organised by the Malaysian Society of HIV Medicine and the Public Health Physicians of Malaysia. It is supported by the Ministry of Health and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The Conference will be held from 30 November - 2 December 2007 in conjunction with World AIDS Day.
