Say No to Violence!
Every day, violence invades the lives of millions of children around the world, including in Malaysia. These children suffer violence that includes physical and psychological violence as well as neglect and deprivation. Because such violence is more often than not committed by those duty bound to protect children, it remains a largely hidden phenomenon. The millions of children who are victims of violence each year are proof that the world has failed to protect them. The abuse of a child is a contravention of their rights. It may however also be a major obstacle in their healthy development and the wellbeing and stability of societies. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and our partners know that there is no place for violence in children’s lives. Violence does not just injure a child physically and emotionally, it also kills a child’s spirit, hopes and a future. Violence against children has to stop.
