Sapna, 13, was forced to flee her home to escape the war. Together with her family, she moved to a makeshift camp for displaced people, in the town of Kantale in Trincomalee District in North-Eastern Province.

On 18 February 2009, UNICEF launched an appeal for US$15 million to respond to both the immediate and medium term needs of children and women in Sri Lanka. US$ 5 million is related to the emergency response to camps and transit centres in Vavuniya and Jaffna districts.

Please issue a crossed cheque payable to “United Nations Children’s Fund”. At the back of the cheque, please write “UNICEF Sri Lanka Children’s Crisis Appeal” as well as your name, full address and contact number.

Please send your donation to the UNICEF Malaysia office together with the downloadable donation form.
