ICDB 2010Sunday, 7 March 2010 In honour of the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) on 20 November 2009, UNICEF will celebrate the 2010 International Children's Day of Broadcasting (ICDB) with the theme All rights, all children. We look forward to radio and television broadcasters joining us to mark ICDB with programming by, for and about children on Sunday, 7 March 2010. Programs can highlight the rights that all children deserve: whether it is a quality education or a safe home, adequate food and drinking water or the ability to participate in society. By allowing children and young people into the studio and on the air to share their opinions, we not only respect their rights to media and expression, we also provide society with the opportunity to learn more about children's needs, challenges and aspirations. The rights to participation and expression are an integral part of adolescent development. Broadcasters have the chance to empower young people by giving them media skills and putting their voices on the air. This shows other young people that they, too, can have a voice. It also shows the world what young people’s thoughts are about their lives and communities. ICDB Award 2010 UNICEF will offer regional awards to the broadcasters which best promote the principles, purpose and main themes of ICDB. Each regional winner will be invited to New York in November 2010 and one televion and one radio nominee will receive the prestigious International Children's Day of Broadcasting Awards. ..............................................................................................
