Celina, Kartini & Rafidah
UNICEF Malaysia’s National Ambassadors (2005-2008) Celina Khor, Kartini Kamalul Ariffin and Rafidah Abdullah are the dynamic trio from the 3R television program. These young women act as role models for Malaysian teenage girls who are the main audience for their program. 3R was created specially to recognise the importance of women’s role in society and their ability to challenge and change the conditions in their lives and communities. It brings issues of importance, relevance and concern to young women between the ages of 16 to 27. Each episode of 3R deals with issues that affect youth and children from serious to fun to controversial through the use of role-play, open and frank interviews and discussions among the 3 hosts. 3R was awarded Best Infortainment Program in the Asian Television Awards 2002, highly commended in the Best Youth program category and awarded the Red Ribbon Media Award by the Malaysian AIDS Foundation for its coverage on HIV/AIDS issue. It also won the Malaysian Video Awards 2003 for Best Magazine Program (Silver). 3R, more than just a television program 3R has also organised a variety of ground events collaborating with various NGOs, corporate companies, Government bodies and media. The trademark of 3R’s ground events is that they are fun and informative. With a strong young following, 3R’s events record a high attendance by the target audience. The three hosts also attended Youth Forums at the International Congress on AIDS in Asia & the Pacific (ICAAP) held in Kuala Lumpur (1999) and Melbourne (2001). In 2005, Celina, Kartini and Rafidah facilitated an AIDS and media forum under the auspices of UNICEF Malaysia at the ICAAP in Kobe. 3R has also produced a 'self defense’ video for women which deals with safety issues and is distributed to schools and colleges.
