Media in Malaysia celebrate children in the media!
1. RTM Radio - Traxx.fm (English)
Frequency KL 90.3, Selangor 100.1
- 24 Feb – 1 Mac: Promos alongside capsules on the child's view of how adults can be better listeners and provide motivation for growing children.
- 1 Mac: Program highlighting children’s creative expression on air --- children will share their likes and dislikes in short drop-ins during the day’s broadcast.
- 1 Mac: An half hour forum Listen-up to explore impressionable minds and their points of view on matters ranging from behaviour and etiquette, to the effects of technology on children. The entire pre-recorded forum entitled ‘Listen-up!’ will feature panelists and a moderator consisting of children.
2. RTM Radio - Klasik Nasional (Malay)
Frequency KL 87.7, Selangor 93.8
- 27 Feb – 1 Mac: 30-second teasers with creative elements titled Our Future in Your Hands. It has voices of children and parents from various communities of Malaysia with a four line poem in Malay: "They have to be lavished with love and care, the members of our young generation, our future is in their hands, and theirs in ours. Respect Them – They have their rights."
3. RTM Radio - Ai.fm (Mandarin)

- 27 Feb – 1 Mac: 30 second promos on ICDB.
- 27 Feb – 1 Mac: 10-15 minute radio drama based on the theme Unite for Children: Tune in to Kids. The sketch will seek to illustrate the importance of the rights of a child to be heard and to be protected. It shows the importance of parents “tuning in to their child’s aspirations and needs” and being positive mentors and guides to ensure that their children become responsible and steadfast individuals in their own right. The storyline is about an only child who dreams to become a writer. However the mother disagrees. The child runs away from home. In the uncertainty and drama that spins out, the distraught mother searches for the child, realising how much the child wants to become a writer. The Mother finally finds her child and promises she will support the child’s dream.
- 1 Mac: An interactive call-in program inviting listeners to discuss the topic - The Rights of the Child.
4. RTM Radio - ASYIK.fm (Orang Asli)
Frequency KL 91.1, Selangor 102.5
- 1 Mac: 30-minute radio documentary titled A Day with Bahlong Levisan. The story traces the life of a form one (secondary one) pupil from the indigenous settlement of Ulu Geroh, Gopeng in Perak, one of the states of Malaysia. Faced with an uncertain future, his parents are determined his future will be bright and shining. Against the backdrop of a Semai group imbued in traditional ways, Bahlong pursues his education against almost insurmountable odds, bolstered by the love and encouragement of his parents who have not crossed the threshold of a school. The story will be in Semai (indigenous) and Malay languages.
5. RTM Radio - Minnal.fm (Tamil)
- 1 Mac: Program themed Love the Nature to discuss noise pollution, air pollution, and water pollution. To be included are pupils’ interviews, story based on nature and quiz. Two school students will participate in this program. The program will emphasise students’ view on the environment and nature.
6. 8TV
- 23 Feb – 1 Mac: PSA based on the 6mins animation Moving On (from NY).
- 23 Feb – 1 Mac: 8TV Quickies featuring interviews with UNICEF Malaysia Representative, UNICEF NY Executive Producer for Children’s Broadcasting Initiative and youth participants of the OneminutesJr Workshop held in Malacca recently.
- 28 Feb – 1 Mac: Screening of one-minute videos produced by children in Malaysia (from the Malacca workshop). Videos will be screened in-between programs.
