Join environmental warriors Eco Girl and Eco Boy on their fun and magical adventures with the Whattalottawatta, Geddupango and Busybody families and learn how small actions can help save the planet. Each of the three EcoKids books – Wasteful Water Worry; Gas Guzzler Gaffe and Plastic Bag Pickle – are aimed at children four to nine years old and highlights an environmental problem the world is facing, along with a lesson to be learnt. Children will get a chance to travel with the EcoKids on their magical flying bicycles across continents to the North Pole, and over the oceans to meet new friends and learn how they too can save the planet. Each adventure ends with important lessons for children and their families: “Say no to plastic bags”, “Don’t waste water” and “Car pool; use less petrol”! There are also fun activities for kids at the end of each book: an EcoKid checklist (what you have to do to help the planet); an educational chart (on the lesson learnt); and a colouring activity sheet related to the topic addressed in the book. “The idea is to create stories that will help children realise what’s happening and what they can do by virtue of a fun story,” explained co-authors Asha Gill and Fay Khoo. Sarah Joan Mokhtar created the books’ beautiful illustrations. The books are published by Rhino Press and available at most major bookstores across the country at RM 10 per book.
