Kids to countdown the charts!NEWS RELEASE KUALA LUMPUR, 5 March, 2010 – Children will be rocking the airwaves this coming International Children’s Day of Broadcasting on 7 March together with favourite AMP Radio DJs – Dina and Reza (ERA), Jin (hitz.fm), Jack Lim (MY FM) and Revathy (THR Raaga). Airtime Management Programming has for the first time in ICDB history mobilised four of its popular Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin and Tamil radio stations to get children into their studios to countdown the charts and rule the airwaves. According to Dina, ERA’s Chart 40s for ICDB 2010 promises a special treat to listeners. “We sometimes think that children have nothing to share, but in actual fact, they can bring fresh insights, including to our radio show. Who knows, we may even decide to use ideas for our future programs,” said Dina of ERA. Learning from children Radio stations ERA, hitz.fm, MY FM and THR Raaga have dedicated airtime for children to become announcers and to ask the ‘real’ announcers questions on 6 and 7 March. On the hot seat for the day are Aanantha and Uthaya on THR Raaga and Jack Lim on MY. Malaysia’s children’s icon and ERA DJ Aznil Nawawi will also participate on ERA to answer questions put to him from children. “This is an international event by UNICEF, aimed at inspiring broadcasters around the world to create channels for more children in more circumstances to speak out and be heard. What better way to create awareness in their communities and influence decision-making, than by going on radio!,” said AMP Client & PR Manager Izah Ibrahim. “Who knows, maybe the ‘real’ announcers can learn a few things from the kids!” Tuning in to children The hitz hot 20 chart show is the most awaited program on hitz.fm on the weekends, arguably the most popular English chart show too! Anchor of the show, Jin, says it is only right that hitz.fm as the No. 1 hit station to give young Malaysians the opportunity to be heard. “This weekend, we will let the kids take over the studio give them an early exposure to the world of radio broadcasting. Besides learning a thing or two, putting them in the limelight with also help the children build ambitions and self-confidence,” added hitz.fm DJ Jin, who looks forward to more interesting collaborations with UNICEF in the future.
