Calling all UNICEF Malaysia Facebook fans!
UNICEF is organising a photography contest for the 'Get on Board' campaign to stop child abuse in Malaysia. Let’s come together and share our visual expressions that hands are used for caring, not for abusing. Pick up your camera and snap away for the best image that reflects the theme!

THEME : HANDS ARE FOR CARING, NOT HITTING
To qualify, entries must have an image of a child and/or children along with the portrayal of hands used to guide, comfort and nurture a child. 

IMPORTANT DATES

§ Submission of Entries: 10 – 18 November 2010

§ Judging: 20 – 30 November 2010

§ Prize Giving: 10 December 2010

HOW TO ENTER?

1.   Sign up as a supporter for UNICEF’s Get on Board campaign at www.uniteagainstabuse.my/act/register  

2.   Design your hand and upon completion, you will be given a unique link to your hand design.

3.   Submit the link of your hand design and your photo by emailing it to webkl@unicef.org anytime from 10 - 18 November 2010. Please make sure you send us:
- your name
- contact details
- I/C number
- name of photographer
- Title of your photo
- Caption for your photo

Note: We need your I/C number for verification purposes should your photo be one of the winning entries. Incomplete entries will be automatically disqualified.

4.   Your photo is unique because it’s your own, so personalise it with an interesting caption!

5.   You are allowed to submit up to three (3) photos for the contest. All entries will be uploaded onto the UNICEF Malaysia Facebook page: www.facebook.com/unicef.malaysia

JUDGING CRITERIA

The winners of the “Hands are for Caring, Not Hitting” will be selected based on the number of ‘Likes’ it receives from UNICEF Malaysia Facebook Fans.

Fans can start voting for their favorite photos by clicking ‘Like’ on the photo between 20 November and 30 November 2010. The more ‘Likes’ you get, the better your chance to win great prizes by SONY!

In the event of two winners with the same number of ‘Likes’, there will be a tie-breaker. The winner will be selected based on the most interesting caption (that will be judged internally).

PHOTO FORMAT

1.   Please use the largest possible resolution settings on your camera.

2.   All photos must be in digital format and emailed to webkl@unicef.org as a .jpg file.

3.   You may submit your photo in colour or black-and-white; dimensions can either be in portrait (450 x 600) or landscape (600 x 450) orientations.

IMPORTANT REMINDER!

The following image modifications are strictly prohibited :

1.   Borders or frames on the photo.

2.   Watermarks, signatures, photographers’ names, or copyright notices.

3.   Using multiple images in a single photo entry (collage).

NOTIFICATION OF CONTEST WINNERS

UNICEF will announce the winners on 2 December 2010 on the UNICEF Malaysia Facebook Page and on the 'Get on Board' campaign website by publishing the winning photos, along with the captions and photographers’ names.

Winners will also be notified by e-mail or telephone. UNICEF shall not be responsible or be liable if any winners are uncontactable.

PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY

UNICEF’s 'Get On Board' campaign finale event will be held on 10 December 2010. The “Hands are for Caring, Not Hitting” photography contest winners will receive their prizes at a prize giving ceremony during the event.

All travel expenses by the winners to attend the prize giving ceremony will be undertaken by the winners themselves. It is the winner’s responsibility to notify UNICEF if she/he cannot collect their prize at the event.

IMPORTANT

1.   UNICEF reserves the right to modify the contest prizes and its rules and regulations as and when necessary, without prior notice.

2.   The photographer holds the copyright to the photos submitted, but UNICEF retains the unlimited right to use the submitted photos for public information purposes in its efforts to promote peace, tolerance and chidren’s rights.

3.   UNICEF will only use photos for non-commercial purposes which include education and advocacy materials website, brochures, reports, Internet, press, flyers, CDs) at no cost. The photographer will be credited.

4.   The prize is not transferable, and no cash alternative prizes will be offered.
