UNICEF in action
Under the banner of Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS, UNICEF is working with the Government of Malaysia to contain and reverse the spread of HIV. UNICEF’s AIDS program for 2008-2010 is built on three pillars: 1. technical assistance and capacity enhancement; 2. applicable research and analysis; 3. public information and dissemination. The program is designed to assist policy makers and partners to: § Appreciate the magnitude of the AIDS epidemic in the country and its potential impact on children, young people and women; § Identify areas of effective and sustainable intervention to contain and reverse the epidemic; § Make policies that are evidence based, inclusive, non- discriminatory and forward looking; and, § Design and test non-traditional program models which if successful could be replicated nationwide.
