Digital / Web Consultant

Section Communications
Reports to: Communication Specialist
Location: Kuala Lumpur
Type of Post: Consultancy – 11 months
Hours: Full Time

Overall Purpose:

The Digital/Web Consultant will support the Communication Specialist to deliver a wide range of integrated online communications in a timely, reliable and thoughtful manner to extend the reach of UNICEF Malaysia’s engagement and tap into citizen action in support of children and their rights.

Key Responsibilities:

1.   Maintain a well-structured UNICEF Malaysia website (English and Malay) to ensure reliability, consistency and up-to-date information.

2.   Create professional, engaging and creative content (text and visual) for the UNICEF Malaysia website and its social media platforms.

3.   Collaborate with colleagues in other sections (Programmes, Fundraising and Operations) to develop agreed content areas for the websites (English and Malay).

4.   Manage, update and monitor UNICEF Malaysia’s social media activity and digital conversations regarding UNICEF Malaysia and its priorities.

5.   Liaise with the Marketing Digital Officer to compile web statistics and analyse the performance of UNICEF Malaysia’s digital platforms, and provide regular reports and recommendations to guide future decisions.

6.   Recommend and establish a database for the management and storage of UNICEF Malaysia digital assets - photos and videos.

7.   Keep abreast of new and emerging digital and web technologies and how these can be integrated into content plans for UNICEF Malaysia websites.

8.   Performs other related duties, as required by the Representative and Communication Specialist.

Minimum Qualifications:

§ Commitment to children’s rights.

§ University degree in Digital Communications or related.

§ Minimum 2 years experience in digital communications, in particular web identity, design, content management and use of social media platforms and tools.

§ Fluency in spoken and written English and good knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia required.

§ Strong writing, editing and proofing skills for web content, creative with strong visual design skills and excellent attention to detail.

§ Excellent web skills, including use of Content Management Systems (CMS), HTML, Javascript, Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, FTP, Google analytics and email marketing.

§ Actively participating in social media activities such as blogging, community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting and is connected with the broader social media world.

§ Knowledgeable about digital storage and information management.

§ Highly motivated and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision, prioritising workloads and working to changing deadlines.

§ Interpersonal skills, with the confidence to liaise with and train colleagues in the use of digital communications.

§ Team player with ability to form effective relationships both internal and external.
