Malawi has made significant progress in highlighting children in the development agenda. The Malawi Growth and Development Strategy II addresses all major areas for children under Theme 2 (Social Development) and Theme 3 (Social Support and Disaster Risk Management). The overall goal of UNICEF’s advocacy programme is to deliver evidence based socioeconomic analysis with child participation which addresses the root causes of inequities, affecting children in Malawi. The participation component of the 2012-2016 UNICEF Country programme focusses on the Youth Parliament and on innovation. In the Country Programme 2012 – 2016 UNICEF seeks to promote social inclusion of the most marginalized households, especially children and women.
