Consultancy position: Photographer

VACANCY#: UNICEF/MLW/2014/016

1. Background

UNICEF Malawi Office seeks to document its country programme priorities, as well as emergencies and special events.  In view of this we would like to select two/three professional photographers who will work with UNICEF, when required, to visit projects and provide professional photographic coverage of different UNICEF-related activities in digital format.

2. Scope of work

Under the guidance of the Chief of Communication, the Consultant will work closely with section colleagues, particularly the Communication team to perform the following tasks:

  • To provide digital colour and black & white (as needed) photographic coverage for UNICEF Malawi promotional materials, website, publications, social media platforms and campaigns in 2014.
  • The photos should be captioned and of high quality and resolution so that they can be used for various purposes including on billboards if needed.
  • Experience of creating multi-media products for web and other online platforms an advantage
  • Written documentation in English also an advantage.

Essentials: 

  1. Minimum of 10 years experience in documentary or photo journalism and familiarity with international development issues.
  2. Willingness to work within the ethical and conduct guidelines of the UN
  3. Strong communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English and Chichewa.

 3. DURATION 

Long term agreement on needs basis.
