UNICEF’s response

UNICEF’s response to the political situation has been to adapt the programme to help ensure the continued delivery of basic social services for children.  Immediately after the onset of the political crisis, UNICEF diverted its support through NGOs but since the agreement of the political roadmap in late 2011, UNICEF has been progressively re-engaging with government ministries at both central and regional levels and from June 2013 a third of the office staff will be based at regional levels in decentralized government authorities.
