Where we work
UNICEF opened its office in Madagascar's capital Antananarivo in 1984. In 1991, Madagascar ratified the 1989 international Convention on the Rights of Children. Today, more than 25 years after establishing a presence in Madagascar, UNICEF's activities have changed the lives of thousands of the most vulnerable children and young people. Working with partners across the country, UNICEF is present in all of Madagascar's 22 regions, helping bring improved nutrition and clean water, vital immunisations, improved education and protection from violence and social exclusion to Madagascar's children. We continue to advocate for the realistaion of their rights to survival, development, protection and participation in society - working to reach the most excluded and at risk.
