Education

Civil war has had a crippling impact on the country's education system, leaving over 80% of schools either damaged or destroyed. UNICEF works to improve children's capacity to develop and learn, and to ensure that the educational environment provides the necessary tools for progress and growth.

Health

UNICEF, in collaboration with other UN agencies, and both national and international NGOs, supports the Government of Liberia to effectively provide basic health services to children in Liberia. Improving maternal and child health is a high priority.

Nutrition

To ensure every child reaches their full potential, it is vital that they receive proper nutrition during the first 1000 days of their lives. In Liberia, global acute malnutrition has remained stagnated for many years and is identified as a major public health challenge.

Child Protection

UNICEF's Child Protection Program contributes to the creation of a protective environment for children against violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

Access to water, sanitation and hygiene facilities helps fulfill the universal right to health and education. UNICEF works to ensure children have equal access to reach their full potential.
