Are you a Dreamer?

We are

go down

Our dream has always been a world in which the last child comes first.

More than twelve years ago, the world had a vision to improve the lives of millions.
It was called the Millennium Declaration, and it provided us with a foundation to work towards our dream.

Lofty goals were set for a better world by the year 2015.

Together with our partners, we made sure that children were at the heart of those goals.

The world is constantly changing.

But no matter the changes, with our partners we'll be there putting the last child first.

Join us in looking back, so that together we can look forward.

THIS IS OUR VISION:

That those children most in need are well-nourished and cared for

That more children go to school

That boys and girls look forward to equally bright futures

That more mothers are in good health

That more babies live to their fifth birthday and beyond

That sick children get the care they need,
and healthy children stay healthy

An estimated 1.1 million malaria deaths were averted during the past decade. 58% of these lives were saved in the ten countries which had the highest malaria burden in the year 2000.

Between 2009 and 2012 the world saw a 35% reduction in new HIV infections in children - from 430,000 in 2009 to 260,000 in 2012.

That more children have safe, happy childhoods and adults know that it is a child's right to have one

That more children drink clean and safe water

While we are proud of these collective achievements, we also know that global - and even national - statistics often hide deep inequalities.

So with our partners, we've been looking closer and working harder to keep our promise to all children - especially those who are hardest to reach.

The world has changed since the adoption of the vision in 2000

Children are the inheritors of the planet and the stewards of the future.

They are particularly vulnerable to climate-related disasters, economic instability, and environmental pollution.

Upholding children's rights is the mark of healthy, happy societies - now and in the future.

Yes, we are dreamers. And with our partners, we are making dreams real.

Help us put the last child first by keeping children at the heart of development discussions.
