National Forum on Prevention of Offences and Crimes by and Against Juveniles
BISHKEK/KYRGYZSTAN, 16 November 2012 – With support of UNICEF, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic will hold National Forum “Prevention of Offences and Crimes by and Against Juveniles”.
The Forum will be attended by the Generator Prosecutor Aida Salyanova, UNICEF Representative Jonathan Veitch, Deputy Head of the Supreme Court Gulbara Kalieva, Parliament Members, leaders of ministries and agencies, and representatives of the civil society organisations.
The main sessions include analysis of delinquency among children and juveniles: figures and facts; situation of delinquency prevention among children and juveniles; and recommendations for action at national level.
The goal of the Forum is to initiate concerted actions of governmental and nongovernmental organizations on prevention of offences and crimes by and against juveniles, as well as to strengthen the understanding of a need for alternative effective solutions in compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child to oust the prevailing measure of liberty deprivation.
