Programme objectives:
1. Contribute to the improvement of the psychosocial and cognitive development of children aged 0-8 years.
2. Contribute to a reduction in the IMR and U5MR from 31 to 20 and from 35 to 29 respectively.
Indicators of programme success:
Infant and under-five mortality rates.
Percentage of children (0-8 years) meeting standard psychosocial and cognitive development (criteria to be clearly defined and measurable).

Components of the Integrated Early Childhood Development Programme
Project One: National Policy Development
Project Two: Community Care for the Young
Ensure that the percentage of children (0-8 years) with access to quality IECD services increase from less than 10% to 50% and the percentage of caregivers having knowledge of at least 75% of key IECD practices increase in the 3 governorates by 2007.
Project Three: Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI)
Ensure percentage increase of children (0-5) years & pregnant women with access to quality IMCI services by 2007. Ensure proper functioning of monitoring systems for the prevention of iron, iodine & vitamin A deficiencies among women of child bearing-age.
